Comino & Blue Lagoon Tours

The Blue Lagoon is a shallow, sheltered bay on the tiny island of Comino between Malta and Gozo. Its bright turquoise water is Malta’s most famous swimming spot — and one of the busiest in summer. An organised boat trip is the simplest way to arrive, swim and return without arranging separate ferry tickets.

Expect crowded pontoons between late morning and mid-afternoon in July and August. Private charters and first departures of the day dramatically improve the experience. Many itineraries also stop at Crystal Lagoon and sea caves for snorkelling.

Shared Comino cruises are affordable and social, with fixed routes and swim stops. Private boats cost more but let you linger at quieter coves, adjust for wind, and avoid peak lagoon congestion. Families and couples often prefer private half-day charters.

Check whether prices include hotel pickup, snorkel gear, drinks or lunch. Seas can be choppy — if anyone in your group is prone to seasickness, choose a larger catamaran or calmer morning window.

Swimwear, towel, reef-safe sunscreen, water shoes for rocky entries, waterproof phone pouch, and cash for optional extras. Shade is limited on some small boats — a light shirt and hat help in midday sun.

Life jackets are provided for children on reputable tours. Always follow the captain’s instructions around swim zones and ferry traffic.
