Most visitors take the Gozo Channel ferry from Ċirkewwa in northern Malta to Mġarr harbour in Gozo — a crossing of around 25 minutes. Organised Gozo tours and private driver day trips usually include ferry tickets and timing so you do not need to queue or plan connections yourself.

Independent travellers can drive or take a taxi to the ferry terminal, then rent a car or scooter in Mġarr. Guided tours remain the easiest option for first-time visitors who want Victoria, Dwejra and Ramla Bay in one day without navigating island roads.

Victoria (Rabat) and the Citadel are the historic heart of Gozo — narrow streets, cathedral views and museums in a fortified hilltop city. Ramla Bay is the island’s finest sandy beach, while Dwejra and the Inland Sea remain essential stops even after the Azure Window collapsed in 2017.

Other highlights include the Ġgantija Temples near Xagħra, Ta’ Pinu Basilica, Xlendi and Marsalforn for lunch by the sea, and the salt pans at Xwejni. Most full-day Gozo tours combine three or four of these stops depending on season and group size.

Morning ferry to Mġarr, then Ġgantija or the Citadel while energy is high. Midday coastal stop at Xlendi or Marsalforn for lunch. Afternoon at Dwejra viewpoints and Ramla Bay if the weather is warm enough for a swim. Return ferry to Malta in the late afternoon.
